Aviary Technicians choose a schedule based on their availability to report to Moccasin Lake Nature Park. Volunteers assist in caring for the Wild Raptor Sanctuary aviaries. Daily duties include entering wild raptor lofts to hose down and water, rake and remove debris inside the aviaries. Participants must be tolerant to multiple types of weather and unafraid to enter lofts with both small and large raptors. Our volunteer staff reports from 10am - 2pm. We are adding an 'owl' crew and have some evening positions available which are to be discussed on an individual basis. Individuals who are successful in this position are considered for docents, educators and animal trainers. We also look for individuals with veterinary skills as all of our avian ambassadors receive medical care. Those positions are listed as Care Center Technicians and follow a different path.
