The Project HEAL - Boston chapter is seeking a warm, friendly, and passionate volunteer based in Boston to join their executive board as the Communities of HEALing (COH) Lead. The COH Lead is responsible for ensuring the successful operation of the Project HEAL peer-based eating disorder recovery support group, COH, that is offered via select Project HEAL chapters. COH Leads work closely with Project HEAL staff, mainly the COH Program Manager, to coordinate a variety of local programmatic needs, including recruitment and management of both group facilitators and group members (i.e. attendees), in addition to spearheading the search for available spaces to facilitate group locally and overseeing access to continuous group space.

Responsibilities include (but may not be limited to):

  • Main point-of-contact for all local COH inquiries, communication, and logistical needs
  • Assist with recruitment and management of local group facilitators
  • Assist with recruitment and management of local group attendants
  • Collecting required paperwork from prospective group members
  • Spearhead locating space to host weekly group
  • Manage access to ensure continuous and consistent local group space
  • Support COH Program Manager with coordinating the schedule of weekly group facilitators
  • Establish and manage COH subcommittee volunteers (to support active and expanding programming)

Qualifications:

  • Highly organized
  • Interest working with people, specifically those with eating disorders and other mental illnesses
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Familiarity with eating disorders
  • A passion for the Project HEAL mission and values
  • Experience using Google Drive and apps (e.g. Google Docs, Google Sheets)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail

Project HEAL is a 501(c)3 non- profit organization that provides access to healing for all people with eating disorders.

Description

Since its founding in 2008, Project HEAL has provided over 100 applicants with access to live-saving treatment for their eating disorder, established over 30 Chapters and 25 Ambassadors bringing Project HEAL's mission and values to communities across the United States, and developed partnerships with more than 30 recognized eating disorder treatment providers across the US. The primary function of Chapters is to serve as robust local recovery communities that offer resources for those affected by eating disorders and opportunities to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of those affected by eating disorders.

We are an organization with a large volunteer base and have many volunteer opportunities available year-round. We are always looking for new people who have an interest in and passion for helping others suffering from eating disorders, poor body image, and low self-esteem.
