The Stissing Center is a non-profit music venue and our success depends on the hard work and dedication of our volunteer team. About THE STISSING CENTER

Location:

2981 CHURCH STREET, PINE PLAINS, NY 12567, US

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to foster community and economic development in Northern Dutchess County (NY) and surrounding areas through the transformation of The Stissing Center into a regional center for community-based civic and social programs, agriculture and arts education, cultural performances, and as an incubator for local charitable organizations and entrepreneurs. The goal of the The Stissing Center is to transform Pine Plains, NY into a thriving tourist destination; to generate local economic revitalization; and to create a healthier and more vibrant community.

Description

We appreciate your considering joining our team of dedicated and hard-working volunteers. With your help The Stissing Center is bringing to our community a variety of events including musical concerts, theater, and community day parties. You will be a part of our team of community members who are generous with their time and are committed to making every event a special occasion for our patrons, our performers, and our community.

History: The Stissing Center was constructed in 1915 and given to the Town of Pine Plains in memory of John McIntyre, his wife, Elizabeth Hauver and their children by their philanthropic granddaughter, Mary Ellen Lapham Saunders who grew up in Pine Plains with her grandparents.

The building has fallen into disrepair since its last use over a decade ago, and requires a major overhaul and renovation in order to be re-established as the heart and soul of the town center of Pine Plains. Our goal, through fundraising, is to bring The Stissing Center back to it's former glory and create a space for the community to enjoy a variety of events. We have already completed Phase 1 which allows us to start this fall (2019) hosting events, and it's with your help as a volunteer that will bring This Stissing Center to life.
