Seeking Volunteers & "Furry Friends"

For Pet Therapy Program

St. Joseph Mercy Hospice is looking to expand our pet therapy program.

We are seeking compassionate volunteers and their sweet furry friends to support our hospice program.

Program Handler & Pet Requirements:

-Dogs only; at least 2 years old.

-All dogs must be registered with a currently recognized national registry that screens and insures the animal.

-Proof of complete examination by veterinarian.

-Current on all routine vaccinations as well as any additional immunizations with our partner facilities.

-Free of internal parasites (negative fecal exam within the last 12 months).

-Free of external parasites (Any insecticide treatment must be administered not less than 3 days in advance of a visit to prevent contact with possibly harmful residues.)

-Handlers must be registered St. Joseph Mercy Hospice Volunteers.

-Volunteer application/paperwork, background check, fingerprints , tb testing and orientation.

*Health screen and background check are paid for by the organization.

Description

St. Joseph Mercy Hospice is seeking caring and compassionate people to join our Hospice Team as Volunteers in Livingston , Washtenaw and Oakland County.
Hospice Volunteers provide support to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Patient and Family support may come in the form of companionship, comforting presence, caregiver relief, light household chores, or vigil volunteering.

St. Joseph Mercy Hospice requires a complete background check, fingerprints , TB testing and training for each volunteer, all of which is provided and paid for by St Joseph Mercy Hospice
