VITAS Healthcare is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families- just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members or friends who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house since they are devoted to caring for their loved ones. Relief care (sitting with a patient which the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers, getting the opportunity to run an errand, go to the movies or a doctor’s appointment can renew their energy. This better equips them for the responsibilities of care-giving.
We are currently looking for a Caregiver Relief volunteer with evening and/or weekend availability to help with visiting a home patient in the Wentzville area. Caregiver relief volunteers provide non-medical services for patients in 2 to 3 hour shifts at their homes while family members take a break.
Comprehensive Training and orientation for hospice volunteering is provided. Days and times for volunteering are flexible according to your availability.
