Join us for our annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk! There are various volunteer opportunities at the walk. Duties to be assigned are listed and briefly described below.
Group Volunteering
- Volunteer with a group of 5+ and help run an entire area as a team!
- Help organize team photos
- Help organize line to photographer
- Help photographer to arrange group for photos
- Watch for large teams
- Keep tallies of group sizes and relay information to main stage for prizes
- Staff merchandise tent
- Set up items in nice display
- No fewer than 3 people there at all times
- Pricing is provided
- Collecting cash, checks, credit cards
- Hand out water at walk from designated areas
- Encourage walkers to move forward when walk has started
- Funnel walkers towards starting line
- Cheer on walkers at finish
- Help direct cars to parking spots in designated lots
- Help with VIP/Vendor parking assigned areas
- Registration area - helping teams sign in
- Family tent assistance - help distribute water, set up tents, clean up
- Fun Zone - monitoring games and rides for families

Description
The Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida is a not-for-profit association, founded in 1991, by parents of children with Down syndrome. It has grown from a few families to over 9,000 individuals, families and supporters. We are governed by a volunteer board of directors (more than 50% have a family member with Down syndrome.) We serve more than 850 families in the 7-county area in and around Orlando.
