WHAT WE WILL DO:
Join Project Helping volunteers to support the needs of DeLaney Community Farm, including (but not limited to): planting, mulching, weeding, cleaning hand tools, painting, and more. DeLaney is run by Yu Meh Community Farmer Trainees. Volunteers should be ready to learn from and work beside the Community Farmer Trainees in a safe learning environment and community of support. Language barriers and cultural differences will exist, and we invite all volunteers who are respectful and supportive of Trainees’ learning process and differences.
OTHER DETAILS:
DeLaney Community Farm is a partnership between Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) and Project Worthmore (PWM). The joint mission at DeLaney is to support refugees from the local community through community-based food security programs. The primary goals of DeLaney are to: Provide the space, support, resources, and expertise for refugees to grow healthy, organically produced food for themselves and their broader community; Foster community development and integration through education and training programs, and relationship building; Connect refugees to the local fresh food economy through meaningful and dignified experiences; Demonstrate small-scale, sustainable agricultural practices that reconnect refugees with the land in a productive and environmentally responsible manner. There is an apiary on the farm. Please be prepared if you have an allergy or fear of bees. Through the act of volunteering, you are actively investing in your community while also improving your mental wellness! Volunteering is proven to have numerous health benefits including improved mood, feeling healthier, increased sense of purpose and reducing stress levels. Volunteering can also give us a deep sense of happiness, both immediately and long-term. * 94% of people who volunteer say that volunteering improves their mood. * 96% of people who volunteer say that volunteering enriches their sense of purpose. This is just some of the science that supports the mission at Project Helping and outlines why it’s so beneficial to do good things for others. We call that practicing kyndfulness. #BeKyndBeWell Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details. We’ll also send a reminder email and a text a few days before the event! More Questions? Email Project Helping at volunteer@projecthelping.org or call 303-551-0624
