The Betts House garden is a hidden oasis in the urbanized West End. In keeping with the NSCDA-OH’s dedication to historical interpretation, we seek to plant and maintain period appropriate vegetation in this space throughout the year. Many of the plants present are native to the United States and the state of Ohio.
We seek a volunteer with an interest in historic garden functionality and design to assist the Betts House in the revitalization and planting of our garden space. Volunteers would aid staff in researching and selecting appropriate plants for the space and creating a landscape design proposal.

About The Betts House
Location:
416 CLARK ST, CINCINNATI, OH 45203, US
Mission Statement
The Betts House interprets the history of Cincinnati through exhibits and programs on the built environment, including architecture, historic preservation, building trades and materials, and construction techniques. We maintain the 1804 Betts House, the oldest brick house in Ohio, in order to preserve the legacy and history of brick-maker William Betts and his family.
Description
Built in 1804, the Betts House, Ohio's oldest brick house, is located in the Betts-Longworth Historic District in Cincinnati's West End. The Betts House opened to the public in 1996 as a museum dedicated to interpreting Cincinnati's regional history through the built environment. Tours of the house showcase its history and construction. An ongoing exhibit features a timeline of the house and Betts family paired with the history of Cincinnati and the United States. The Betts House also supports the fields of construction and architecture with a summer outreach program, Bond at the Betts, providing youth from urban neighborhoods with a hands-on introduction to the building trades.
