Children in the Park returns on July 10th for another summer of fun, bringing youth from all over the Greater Boston area onto the Esplanade! ChiP aims to provide an engaging day outside for youth to experience the wonders of outdoor play and exploration. With over 20 partnering camps across the city, ChiP provides access to one of the city’s most beautiful resources for hundreds of youth!

This year, the Esplanade has partnered with Life is Good Playmakers to create new programming for campers. We are looking for volunteers to help us lead games, to oversee our free play and quiet areas, and to help manage the execution of these events!

Shifts are each Wednesday from 10a-3p from July 10-August 14. This is a great opportunity for teachers who are on summer break and looking to stay involved in the community, for college students studying childhood education, parents, etc.

Mission Statement

We are a dynamic nonprofit collaboration of citizens working to protect, restore, and beautify Boston's historic Charles River Esplanade as a vital park to be enjoyed by all. One of the oldest, most dramatic, and most popular urban parks in the country, the Esplanade comprises three miles of parkland stretching along the shore of the Charles River from the Museum of Science to the Boston University Bridge. Join the group that is working to restore and enhance Boston's historic Esplanade along the Charles River. The Esplanade Association is dedicated to raising funds, building partnerships, and recruiting volunteers to protect this historic landmark. If you treasure the Boston Esplanade as we do, we invite you to learn more about our projects and programs, and to find out how you can get involved in the Esplanade's Renaissance.

Description

Since 2001, the Esplanade Association has been working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and incredible corporate, nonprofit, academic, and civic partners, to make the Esplanade a world class park. Our shared accomplishments include the construction of playgrounds and docks, major landscaping projects, the introduction of free family programming, the Esplanade's first tree inventory, park advocacy, community outreach, and our volunteer program.

We recruit over 2800 volunteers to help us maintain and care for the Esplanade. They remove invasive plants, install and maintain gardens, prune trees, paint fences and remove litter. With their help, the Esplanade is cleaner, safer, healthier and much more vibrant! We also invite volunteers to help out with our community enrichment programs, such as our Kids Fishing Club and Model Boat Sailing, and are always looking for help in our office.

If you have ever wondered how you can get involved in the care and upkeep of the Esplanade, then the Green Team is for you!
