Altus

Do you want to make someone feel happy when the skies of hospice feel gray?

Altus Hospice is looking for rays of sunshine to provide social visits to patients who would enjoy brightening their day with a little company from you!

Unsure about what hospice is or if it is a good fit for you?

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Jessica Santos, welcomes you to reach out and learn more about the comfort and compassion hospice has to offer. No hospice or medical experience is required. We provide a half day training is to all volunteers, with two options for convenience, one during business hours, and a separate training on the 1st Saturday of each month. We also provide TB testing and CPR certification free of charge to all volunteers.

Our volunteers love the flexibility opportunities we offer!

Volunteering with Altus is extremely flexible, some volunteers serve as little as one hour every two weeks, while others serve up to 10 hours per week. Volunteer opportunities are available 7 days a week between 8 am-7 pm

Our volunteers create meaningful relationships with the patients they serve!

When you begin volunteering with Altus you will be matched to a patient that lives in Lometa/Lampasas and is hoping to make a new friend. Our volunteer coordinator matches you with a patient based on interests and personality, and joins you on your first visit(s) to ensure you are comfortable and are serving a patient you will enjoy spending time with!

Thank you for interest in serving with a phenomenal cause!

Please reach out to learn more, we would love to chat with you and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement

The Mission of Altus Hospice is to provide professional care with a personal touch. We accomplish this by focusing on both the patient and their family. We will treat the disease process with medical expertise while emphasizing quality living, not only physically, but also psychosocially, emotionally and spiritually. Comfort, compassion and calming presence are the gifts we bring to this service, and we are honored to walk with the patient and loved ones through this special time.

Description

Altus has the honor and privilege to partner with patients and families as they enter into end of life care.

Hospice is a concept of caring, rather than a specific location. In hospice care, the emphasis is on palliative (comfort) care and quality of life. Every effort is made to make the patient as comfortable as possible and fulfill the distinct wishes of the patient and their family. There is practical, emotional, and spiritual support available for all involved.
