Who we are:

Established in 1978, Villa Cathay is one of the first culturally focused senior care homes in Vancouver. Our founders saw the gap between the number of Chinese seniors that needed care and the availability of care beds for these seniors; thus, they took the initiative to purchase land and open a senior care home, Villa Cathay. Over the years, we have provided care to over 1600 seniors, with love, respect and dignity, and Villa Cathay became their home.

Villa Cathay is a non-profit organization.

Our Needs:

• We are looking for individuals who are able visit and have meaningful engagements with our residents.
• Some examples of such engagements may include fall prevention seminars, psychological comfort, event setup, assisting in programs, assist in fitness demonstrations, and more!

Your Skills & Experience:

• You are up-beat, friendly, professional and organized.
• You are comfortable working alongside other volunteers and staff.
• Prior experience working with seniors is an asset - but a willingness to learn is just as important.
• Patience is important when working with seniors.

Your Commitment:

• Many of the activities you will be helping out with is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
• We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

You will learn:

• You will expand your leadership skills and further develop your collaborative skills.
• You will learn more about proper ways to communicate and care for seniors.
• There will be opportunities to practice your public speaking skills.
