Mission Statement
Providing unique Cultural Preservation, Restoration, and Educational opportunities about the Inter tribal Community that calls Solano County home.
Description
7 Generations Intertribal is a locally based nonprofit that provides cultural education, restoration and preservation of the Native American Culture through public events, in local schools and requests for Native American representation at larger multicultural events in the community. It is through our programs we serve several thousand individuals a year to promote stronger, more inclusive communities, reduce the negative stereotypes associated with being Native American, and provide a sense of positive identity that frequently cause problems with native youths.
We provide traditional dance classes and teach about traditional foods, harvesting, planting and historic songs and ceremony they would not otherwise learn in an urban setting removed from their home areas. We educate the public at large what is genuine culture and how to show respect to the first nations by respecting the earth, the water and the sky as well as understanding what is appropriate and what is not in terms of social engagement.
Using traditional health and wellness as well as educational techniques that allow individuals to grow strong in self and reduce disparity is a key tool in improving lives and creating stronger cities, towns and communities networks.
