The Waterfront Historic Area League (WHALE) is the fiscal agent for the Co-Creative Center, located in the heart of downtown New Bedford. The Co-Creative Center is looking for volunteers to help with our Commune-N-Tea, AHA! Night event series, from 4:30-9:00 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month. The event includes music, art activities, tea and poetry. We are looking for someone to help with set up, photography and cleanup. Please let us know if you're interested and available to volunteer.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE (WHALE) is to foster historic preservation and continued use of the city’s architectural heritage, so to enhance community and economic vitality in New Bedford, MA. WHALE accomplishes its mission through bricks and mortar historic preservation projects, advocacy, and education.
Description
WHALE was established in 1962, when urban renewal threatened entire neighborhoods. Its founders were committed to saving our city’s history and architectural heritage from "death by neglect and the tyranny of the bulldozer." Over the past 50 years, WHALE has facilitated the completion of more than 50 restoration and preservation projects in the New Bedford area. Because of its non-profit status, WHALE can enter into a variety of real estate transactions including purchase, rehabilitation, sale, and deed restrictions. With these capabilities, WHALE has been able to save properties which could not be handled by the private sector.
