We are seeking volunteers to pick up healthy snacks from Costco or Sam's Club and deliver them to one of three schools in Durham on a weekly basis (Shepard Middle School, Forest View Elementary, or Hope Valley Elementary). Volunteers can sign up for the weeks that work for their schedule.
Here is how it works. On the Friday evening before your designated week, you will receive an email from KidBright with the snack order. Once received, you can follow these four easy steps:
1. Go to Costco or Sam's Club on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.
2. Using the list provided in the email, pick out the items and pay.
3. Email a picture of your receipt to KidBright and receive reimbursement within 72 hours.
4. On Tuesday morning, deliver the snacks to the school.
About KidBright USA
KidBright USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has a vision of a hunger free classroom where all children can learn and succeed. We are building a volunteer network delivering free healthy snacks to children in need. Hunger in Durham public schools is real; 40% of students in the average Durham classroom are living in food insecure households. For these children, school breakfast and lunch may be their only meals of the day. KidBright healthy snacks help students stay full throughout the day so they can learn and thrive. KidBright services are available to schools where 60% or more of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
