Graphic Design Intern

Department: Graphic Design

Job Title/Description: Graphic Design Intern

The Graphic Design Intern will assist the Graphic Design department by assisting with the creation of design collateral, organizing on-line files, creating collateral mock-ups, helping with social media and web graphics, print graphics, maintaining the photo library, and assisting with various related activities

Supervisor: Graphic Designer

Time Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours and 2 days per week (Monday through Friday) with a 4 month commitment. Days and times are flexible. Need to work through the Gala in October.

Training: The Graphic Designer will give on-the-job training for this position, giving instructions for specific assignments, establishing objectives and setting deadlines. The volunteer must have a working knowledge of graphic design and be prepared to show samples of work.

Duties:

  1. Create some small design projects as needed
  2. Help with edits of existing design projects and versioning out for various end-uses
  3. Organize on-line server files into correct categories
  4. Reorganize hard copy files, assist in maintaining the design area
  5. Assist with the photo library with Permanent Collection photos, exhibition and event photos
  6. Recrop, resize and color correct images as needed
  7. Perform preparation work (vinyl weeding, cutting, trimming & creating mock-ups)
  8. Create social media and website graphics

Qualifications:

  1. Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  2. Ability to take direction and work independently
  3. Dependable and consistent
  4. Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

  1. Able to stand for 2 hours at a time
  2. Have a steady hand for cutting

Importance of job to the organization’s purpose: By assisting the Graphic Design Department, the Graphic Design Intern will support the efforts of other departments to meet their key outcomes of the strategic plan: bringing in more visitors and increasing revenue through fundraisers and event sales.

MoLAA's mission is to education the public about contemporary Latin American fine art (by artists who have lived and worked in Latin America since WWII) through the presentation of a significant permanent collection, dynamic exhibitions and related cultural and educational programs.

Description

The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) is the only musuem in the western United States that exclusively features contemporary Latin American fine art. Since its inception in November of 1996, MoLAA has grown tremendously in terms of its physical space, the services that it offers to the community, its educational programs and special events and the importance of the exhibits presented.
