The plants and animals at Blue Star Memorial Woods need your help! Join an inspiring movement of volunteers gathering to care for this special place that was once the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp and POW camp. Learn what it takes to help nature thrive in our treasured forest preserves and how to make our preserves safe and healthy for people and creatures of all ages to enjoy. Join us once a year, once a month or once a week! We pick up litter, cut down invasive species of trees, pull weeds, collect seeds from native plants, and spread those seeds to restore life to the prairie and woodlands that surround the river.

No experience necessary, and volunteers of all ages are welcome, although minors under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult and all minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Education and training opportunities are abundant for those who want a deeper experience.

Park in the lot south of the address provided. You can also find this forest preserve by just searching "Blue Star Memorial Woods". Look for yellow "volunteer" signs in the parking lot marking the meeting spot. Dress for being outside! Wear clothing that can get dirty and sturdy close toed shoes, no matter what the weather. Bring your own water bottle. Snacks and tools will be provided.
