During the COVID-19 crisis it is even more essential to provide hygiene kits to the homeless community. Soap, shampoo and other vital supplies help people stay clean and reduce the potential for contagion. Help The Salvation Army in San Francisco assemble hygiene kits so we can keep our entire community safe.
By using gently supplies donated by major hotels in San Francisco, we are able to both help avoid wastage and meet an essential need.
Proper social distancing and hygiene measures will be in place and volunteers will be expected to comply. There is no client contact for this volunteer opportunity and volunteer numbers will be limited to 8 people per shift.
DETAILS: Shifts are Tuesdays/Thursdays from 1pm to 3:30pm. Up to 8 volunteers per shift.
We ask that all volunteers register through The Salvation Army volunteer site by copying and pasting the link below into a browser and following the steps. You will be provided with full details, complete volunteer paperwork and choose your preferred shift(s).

Description
The Salvation Army was established in London in 1865, and since 1883 has been serving the San Francisco Bay Area, offering practical support, spiritual comfort and a critical safety net to people in need. The safety net is funded in part by donations from the Red Kettle Campaign which started in San Francisco in 1891. Nearly 600,000 San Franciscans receive assistance from the Army annually through a range of social services; clothing and shelter for the homeless, food for the hungry, opportunities for underprivileged children, alcohol rehabilitation, transitional housing, nutritional and housing support for seniors and relief for disaster survivors. For every dollar donated to The Salvation Army, 82 cents is used to support those services in the 16 facilities throughout San Francisco and South San Francisco communities.
