When you give an international student the opportunity to explore American culture with your family, you'll discover a new culture as well - through new language, foods and traditions. Help to build bridges between communities, promote mutual understanding among nations, and break down cultural barriers--welcome an international student into your home!
Who we are: CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is seeking host families for international high school exchange students for the 2018-2019 school year. Our students come to the U.S. from over 55 different countries and spend 5 or 10 months studying at an American school, living with an American family, and immersing themselves in an exciting and rewarding cultural experience.
Volunteer as a Host Family: This year, CIEE will sponsor over 1,500 international high school students on our USA High School program and we are working to secure loving Host Families for each of our students before their arrival in August. We accept all types of families (kids, no kids, single parents, empty nesters, etc.) All that is required of our families is to provide a bed for the student, an extra plate at the table, and a warm, accepting environment.
What we provide: The expert staff at CIEE supports host families and students around the clock. Each Host family is supported by both a professional staff member in our main office as well as a local coordinator in their community. Support staff and local coordinators check in with students and families on a weekly basis and provide experienced assistance whenever needed.
