The Dwellings (www.thedwellings.org), a sister agency of The Kearney Center, and located just five minutes west, is seeking eager, energetic, and caring individuals to help expand the meal services it provides to its residents six days per week in its new state-of-the-art Kitchen and Dining Room.
Individual and group volunteers will work on the serving line, clean dishes, do general clean-up after each meal shift.
One or two volunteers are needed for the following weekly meal shift: Monday to Friday: Dinner: 4:45 - 7 pm
Volunteer groups can also adopt a specific day of the week and rotate its members in and out each day. Closed toe shoes are required. Hair nets and safety / sanitation training will be provided.
The Dwellings is an innovative, low-barrier, high-tech "tiny home" community of 90 homes (and growing) focused on assisting residents in their journey toward independence.

Description
The Kearney Center provides 24-hour comprehensive emergency services to individuals experiencing or on-the-verge of experiencing homelessness within the 8-county Big Bend region. We provide temporary emergency shelter and housing-based services. As a result, this facility serves as a point of entry into assistance by coordinating services and responding to the immediate needs of individuals and families until appropriate permanent housing can be arranged.
