The Audubon Center at Debs Park is the first nature center that the National Audubon Society built in an urban environment specifically to engage the Latino community. Our mission is to inspire people to experience, understand, and care for the local natural world. Front desk volunteers will support Center staff with a variety of tasks, such as:
Welcoming visitors when they arrive, answering questions and directing visitors to maps or other informational materials, answering the phone and taking messages, keeping the Welcome Center and office space looking clean and organized, basic data entry, and maintaining the cages of our two pet snakes (if comfortable).
Prior to their first shift, volunteers will participate in a training that will cover volunteer expectations/policies and also provide an overview of the Center, our mission, and our work.
This is a great opportunity to get involved with the Center and connect with the local community! Ability to speak both Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
We are currently looking for volunteers who are available to support on Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays, and or Saturdays. Shifts typically take place from around 9am-12pm and from 1-4pm. Committing to one shift a week is preferred, but there is also opportunity to come every other week if that works better with your schedule.
Please contact mika.perron@audubon.org with any questions.
