Every year in Colorado, there are 50,000 reports of child abuse and neglect and 11,000 children enter foster care. CASA of Jefferson & Gilpin Counties serves abused and neglected children in the area. CASA volunteers meet with the children they are assigned to once a week, advocate for their best interests, and report back to the judge involved in their court case. Children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to pass all of their classes in school, less likely to spend long periods of time in foster care, and are more likely to find a permanent home and not re-enter care. Even with over 200 dedicated volunteers, we are currently only able to give 35% of children involved in the system a CASA volunteer. There is a child in foster care waiting for YOU to be their voice!
