Shared Support Maryland is a small nonprofit organization that provides completely personalized supports to people with disabilities in Maryland. We are one of fewer than 75 agencies in the country that offer this kind of person-directed, customized supports and services. The people we support live in their own homes, alone or with people they have chosen; they hire and oversee their own support staff, hold jobs that pay a living wage, and spend their time in activities of their choosing.

Shared Support Maryland is seeking people who may be interested in becoming a board member of this unique organization. Shared Support Maryland values and practices the principles of supported decision making - to have truly self-directed lives. People, who for years have been limited and under-estimated, make and carry out decisions for themselves, master skills for life and work, and make meaningful contributions to the world around them.

We want to expand board membership and are particularly interested in greater diversity in a range of ways.

The board meets quarterly, usually between Baltimore City and Montgomery County to make meeting accessible for board members from both the Baltimore and DC areas. Committees meet by phone and do work between board meetings.

If you have interests and skills that could benefit a social justice-focused nonprofit we hope you will consider running for the board! If you have interest in being nominated to run for The Shared Support Maryland Board, please send an email with a message or cover letter of interest to Nancy Weiss, the Board President at:
