What is MentorU?
MentorU leverages the proven power of mentoring for college and career success. MentorU provides screened and trained volunteer mentors for students enrolled in an academic enrichment class at their high school (Everett High School). The MentorU class and the mentors will offer students opportunities and resources regarding career exploration, college admission, and future planning to keep them on track for graduation and success.
What is MentorU's Mission:
MentorU helps high school students develop personal, academic, and career skills by providing each student with a volunteer mentor with experience in a variety of areas.
How Does MentorU Work?
In weekly MentorU classes, students engage in personal development and college and career lessons and communicate with their mentors electronically through an online portal. Once a month they will meet up in person at Everett High School to review and discuss the various topics provided to them in their weekly messages, which includes critical thinking, perseverance, self-advocacy, and goal setting.
What is the Time Commitment:
2.5 hours per month
1 year program duration
1.5 hours per meeting
9 in person meetings
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun.
Volunteering just a few hours a month with a child can start something amazing. So why not apply to be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to get started. Are you?
