High Fives & High Impact - Become a Special Olympics Coach Today!

"What Special Olympics does for us is gives us self-esteem. It taught me about myself and how I can accomplish my dreams. People say I can’t do things because I have an intellectual disability, but that’s not true." - Michelle Core, Athlete

Coaches become more than a teacher, mentor, and role model. Coaches are seen as a leader to the Athletes and community.

As a Special Olympics Southern California Coach, you will help the Athletes develop skills and confidence that will help them in their career path and will have a long-lasting effect.

Coaches play an indispensable role, and coaching education helps to ensure each coach and athlete has the best sport experience possible. Your attitude towards sports and competition will directly affect your athletes. Special Olympics believes that the athletic experience and the camaraderie shared by teammates are what benefits athletes the most.

Coach Responsibilities:

  • Promote fair competition at all events.
  • Organize and conduct a sports training program.
  • Teach all coaching staff and athletes the rules of the sport.

Coaches make a commitment of 2-3 hours a week for 8-12 week season. Learn more by contacting Tim Ballaret at tballaret@sosc.org or Shae Lopez at slopez@sosc.org. Our Oxnard based soccer team is in search of coaches for this upcoming season.

Free high fives every step of the way. Come change a life with us today!

Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.
