SIL provides classes and trainings to support and empower people with disabilities to maximize their independence in the community.
In Summer 2019, SIL is providing Pre-Employment Transition Services open to 16-21 year olds with disabilities currently enrolled in high school to teach self advocacy, budgeting, workplace readiness, social skills, and other independent living skills.
Volunteers are needed to help facilicate learning and support the students. We would like at least 1 volunteer at each class and 5 volunteers at Food Matters. Below is a list of all classes.
Job Exploration (held at MACC) 1-3pm
-July 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 15
Social Skills (at SIL) 1-3pm
-July 18 & 19
Food Matters (Health Department) 12-4:30pm
-July 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
Project STIR ( at SIL) 1-3pm
-July 29, 30, 31, Aug 1
Peer Mentor Training (at SIL) 1-3pm
-Aug 2
Workplace Readiness (at MACC) 1-3pm
-Aug 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
