About Serving Kids Hope

Serving Kids Hope (SKH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of nutrition-related problems in children and their families. SKH focuses on those in the greatest need and the vulnerable population. We also promote outreach/educational programs reaching the community organizations, schools, and providers. In 2016, we reached 6,000 underserved children and their families, as well as the providers who serve them. We are driven to raise awareness of childhood obesity and provide a safety net for those in need in our community where obesity and diabetes are serious concerns.

Children who are obese are often nutritionally deficient and food insecure. Combating childhood obesity is critical in ensuring that children grow in to healthy adulthood. Children who are obese have a shorter life-expectancy, and are subject to medical issues such as liver failure, diabetes, heart disease, orthopedic issues as well as psychological issues such as increased anxiety and depression, and poor school performance. It is a startling realization that this generation of children may be the first generation of children to have a shorter life expectancy than that of their parents. SKH wants to assure the potential for a healthy life for our children and the community as a whole. Helping these children is the cornerstone of our vision.
