Help us introduce our students to careers in innovative and diverse industry sectors, and learn about the variety of pathways there are to meaningful careers. Career Speakers will have the opportunity to talk about their career journey, share about the work they do, answer questions from curious minds, and help us make an impact in the lives of our students.
Handouts and enthusiasm are welcome!
While we always need volunteers from diverse background and industries, we specifically need more volunteers in video production, arts & media, and hospitality/tourism sectors.
Please respond to this posting for more information or to sign up.
About Junior Achievement of Southern California
Established in 1954 as a branch of Junior Achievement USA, JA SoCal is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating students about financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. We offer curriculum and hands-on programs for grades K - 12, which align with Common Core Standards for Math, English and Language Arts. JA programs are delivered by volunteers and educators from diverse organizations and corporations. JA volunteers are not only trained to teach the JA curriculum to students, but they are also encouraged to share their life and work experience with the students to bring the curriculum to life. Every year, we prepare and inspire over 60,000 students to succeed in the global economy.

Description
Junior Achievement of Southern California is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Our three pillars of success: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness, are helping prepare young people for the real world by showing the economic relevance of staying in school, building self-confidence, and inspiring them to dream big for their futures.
At JA Finance Park, students are given a unique life profile after answering a series of future lifestyle questions. Their life profile includes an income, marital status, even kids! Using this new adult persona, students work to create a balanced monthly budget while making decision regarding housing, transportation, insurance, savings, entertainment expenses and much more.
