ORGANIZATION: REDLAND AHEAD

  • 3 people are interested

Here at the Redland Community Farm & Market we strive to help those less fortunate than us with training, education and work experience. In order to keep our market up and running we need to bring in income from the Market it self and outside events. We try to keep the cost low for the events by recruiting volunteers!!! Contact me at ocean.rcfam@gmail.com to find out more!!!!!

The Lychee Summer Celebration is going to be a BLAST!!! There will be live music and vendors from all over the South Dade area. This year the event has partnered up with the South Dade Chamber of Commerce and is expecting a HUGE attendance. We've heard 5,000 - 7,000 visitors!

We will be there with a tent set up with our Fresh from Florida and Redland Raised produce as well as fruit cups, fresh fruit smoothies, fresh fruit juices and coco frio! We need help setting up, breaking down, produce sales and more.

The best part is if you volunteer with us you get into the festival for FREE!!!!! Please reach out if you are interested in helping. No time restrictions we will take the help whenever you are available!!! Thank You!

Mission Statement

Redland Ahead, DBA Redland Community Farm & Market's mission statement is "Where hope is grown from the ground up." We are a non-profit that assists veterans, homeless and the underserved in the community with education, training and job opportunities in both our 22 acre USDA certified organic farm, market/event space and other local agri-business operations. Mentoring and guiding the individuals that are interested in farming, sales, pop-up markets and other aspects of initiating micro-enterprises is our aim. We are a Veteran owned and operated company.

Description

Redland Ahead was formed in 2014 by Army veteran John Mills to assist veterans and the underserved in our south Florida community to become involved in farming or other agri-business opportunities. After taking over management of the former Verde Community Farm & Market, the addition of helping the homeless was added. The goal is to help provide new opportunities for education, training and employment whether it be at the farm, other local farms (row crop, tree crop, nursery or animal husbandry) in sales at the market or providing the tools for individuals to start their own micro-enterprises. We partner with FIU and their AgroEcology Department that is a USDA funded program that offers individuals the chance to apprentice at local farms in the fields of their choice.
We have won "It Takes A Village Award" and Community Farm of Recognition for our work with the homeless population and veterans with Edible South Florida Magazine.
