Janitorial Assistant

A Janitorial Assistant will help maintain the general appearance of The Salvation Army Parkview Worship and Community Center through common janitorial duties preformed on a regular basis.

Specific Duties:

• Clean restrooms.
• Sweep and vacuum floors in program areas.
• Empty garbage from program rooms and restrooms daily.
• Clean tables and chairs in program areas.
• Help maintain a clean work space.
• Lawn and outside cleaning (mowing, picking up garbage, debris removal, snow shoveling, etc.).
• Unloading food trucks, stocking storage shelves and packing food as needed.
• Other cleaning tasks as requested

Qualifications Sought:

• Friendly disposition, suitable for interacting with those in the facility.
• Good sense of organization.
• Understanding of proper cleaning methods
• Able to work independently.
• Willingness to take directions; good team player.
• Willingness to maintain strict confidentiality of information regarding clients served.
• Willingness to adhere to policies and practices of Salvation Army.

Screening and Training:

• Screening: Interview required prior to first experience. This position requires volunteer application paperwork to be filed, and a criminal background check.
• Training: Orientation to Salvation Army mission and policies; training provided for specific tasks that are part of this job.

Opportunity start and end dates: July 24-26 th, 2019; July 29 th to 31 st, 2019 & Aug. 1 st to 2 nd 2019.

Schedule:(days, times/shifts): Based on facility needs and volunteer availability, between 9 am and 4 pm

Length of Commitment: Eight (8) Days.
