DSI is seeking volunteers to assist individuals with a disability in learning how to ride a two-wheeled bike.

A variety of shifts are available:

Shift #1: 8:30am to 9:50am
Shift #2: 10:05am to 11:20am
Shift #3: 11:40am to 12:55pm
Shift #4: 2:00pm to 3:15pm
Shift #5: 3:35pm to 4:50pm

During your shift, you will be spotting campers on their bikes. It will involved a lot of walking/jogging (up to 3 miles per shift). Please just sign up for 1 shift a day and attend that shift each day of the week.

Buddy Walk(r) is the most widely recognized public awareness event for the Down syndrome community. Locally, it is the largest fundraising and awareness event for Down Syndrome Indiana. Buddy Walk(r) is a family-friendly event open to all children and adults with Down syndrome, their families, friends and thousands of local supporters.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 15
  • Volunteers are asked to choose 1 shift and stick with that shift each day of the week. For example, if you sign up for Shift #1 from 8:30am to 9:50am, you would attend that shift on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • You will be walking/jogging your entire shift (up to 3 miles a shift) so be prepared. Thank you so much and I look forward to working with you!
