The American Kidney Fund is the nation’s leading non-profit whose mission is to help people fight kidney disease and live healthier lives. The health initiatives team forms part in this mission by going out to events in states that have a higher rate of kidney disease to provide free health screenings and raise awareness about kidney disease. Join us by becoming a volunteer and taking participants blood pressure readings! *Medical background is required*
Diabetes and high blood pressure are the number 1 and 2 common causes of kidney disease. We will be screening participants for blood pressure and blood sugar.
Volunteer Responsibility: Blood pressure screening, explanation of results, participant registration
*Must have a clinical background, this includes nurses, student nurses, doctors, and alike*

Description
The American Kidney Fund leads the nation in providing charitable assistance to dialysis patients who need help with the costs associated with treating kidney failure. Last year, nearly 90,000 people--almost 1 out of every 4 dialysis patients in the United States--received assistance from the American Kidney Fund for health insurance premiums and other treatment-related expenses.
Millions of people nationwide benefit annually from the American Kidney Fund’s efforts to fight kidney disease through health education and prevention efforts.
The American Kidney Fund offers free kidney health screenings in communities nationwide, as well as extensive online health education materials and courses and a toll-free health information HelpLine (866.300.2900).
