ORGANIZATION: Uhuru Pies

The Black Power Blueprint is an economic development project of the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF). There are several phases to the Black Power Blueprint. Phase One, the Uhuru House/Akwaaba Hall community center has been completed. Phase Two, the One Africa One Nation Marketplace is underway. Phase Three, the Uhuru Jiko (Freedom Kitchen) is a commercial kitchen that will enable the African community to create community commerce. The Uhuru Jiko property has been purchased. Once renovated, it will house the African Independence Workforce Program.

Several volunteer positions are needed for our grants committee. All work can be done remotely.

Grant Researcher
Qualifications:
*Knowledge of computers and basic editing and spreadsheet software applications
*Utilize systems and follow-up procedures effectively
*Work effectively under pressure
*Use spreadsheets to maintain data
*Produce quality work within tight time constraints
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Ability to research grant sources via Internet
*Work collaboratively and independently

Responsibilities
*Assist in identifying, defining and developing funding sources
*Assist in developing, writing and submitting grant proposals
*Maintain grant spreadsheets
*Maintain timelines, deadlines and other important information relevant to the project
*Attend virtual grant meetings as needed
