Are you looking for a meaningful and impactful volunteer opportunity where your time and expertise will be respected and harnessed to create real, positive change in children’s lives, our communities, and our ecosystem? Are you passionate about experiential education, and the importance of connecting people with nature and the outdoors? We are seeking creative, collaborative, dedicated, growth-minded, talented volunteers to help build, deepen and mature our board.

Cedar River Montessori School fosters the innate curiosity of the child, presenting learning experiences that cultivate independent, creative thinkers who continuously build their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Located on 12 acres of forested wetland and pasture, Cedar River Montessori is an American Montessori Society accredited, independent, nonprofit school for students ages 3 through middle school in Renton, WA. Cedar River Montessori students follow their natural interests as they explore their world, discovering the interconnectedness of personal responsibility, environmental stewardship, and social equity. Students learn how to work independently and collaboratively, experiencing a transformative education as they grow into the next generation of engaged, global thinkers who compassionately challenge the status quo. Founded in 1981, we strive to be a diverse and inclusive community.

Preferred areas of expertise and passion include: human resources, environmental/outdoor education and causes, or nonprofit management and strategic planning. Previous board experience is not required.

Terms begin in fall 2019 and run for three years, with an estimated volunteer commitment of 5 hours/month. Full board job description and responsibilities are available at cedarrivermontessori.org.
