  • 29 people are interested

Become a Medicare counselor with the Senior LinkAge Line and volunteer to help people in your community.

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to become trained Medicare counselors.

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator if you interested in becoming a volunteer with us and we will get you on the waiting list for the next training class -- to be held in early 2022.

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator with your questions, to get on the waiting list for that class, or to request a volunteer application.

Help Medicare consumers, their family and caregivers, understand Medicare options; connect them to programs that help with Medicare costs, provide education on health and long term care insurance, provide one-on-one assistance reviewing Medicare options, statements, claims and forms, and help educate people on public and other programs. Provide information and referrals to local resources and help to access prescription assistance programs for Minnesotans of all ages.

Due to COVID-19 all training, outreach, and Medicare counseling is being done remotely.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact us. Upon a successful background check and the completion of the three-day training class volunteers will receive certification through the Minnesota Board on Aging as a Health Insurance Counselor with the State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP). Our next volunteer training class will be held in early 2022. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator with your questions or to request a volunteer application.

Volunteers will receive staff support, guidance, and on-going training as you provide assistance and outreach to seniors.

The support area is the seven county Arrowhead Region of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis; however volunteers will work in and around their own community.

If you have questions please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Lee Swenson, at the Senior LinkAge Line at 1-800-333-2433, Ext. 81019.
