GMHC is a not-for-profit, data-driven, volunteer-supported, and community-based organization committed to national leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We provide HIV prevention and coordinated care services to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS in New York City.

The primary responsibility of the client outreach and data entry specialist volunteer will be to contact clients via phone and email regarding program scheduling and missing documentation requests. Additionally, the volunteer will enter client-level data in web-based program services databases. This position would focus mainly on ensuring client compliance by informing clients of program events and requirements mandated by the AIDS Institute. The client outreach and data entry specialist volunteer will work with the program staff to ensure client and service level information is captured and accurately recorded.

The following duties are mandatory requirements of the volunteer position:

  • Ability to comply with HIPAA regulations when working with clients protected health information including medical information
  • Contact and record client outreach for the purpose of increasing awareness and participation in program requirements.
  • Participate in data management and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy of the data collected

Time Commitment

This volunteer position would be expected to commit 3-6 hours per week, the schedule is flexible but must occur on Monday or Tuesday of each week during 9am-5pm business hours.

In addition to the above-listed volunteer responsibilities, the ideal candidate for this volunteer position possesses most or all of the following:

  • Knowledge of computers and ability to make data entries into computer database
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good verbal, written, computer and communication skills

Training To Be Provided:

  • HIPAA
  • Data Tracking Systems
