Friends of Stewart Park is looking for volunteers to sit at a shaded table in the park near the playground, answer questions about the new accessible playground being built and give out fundraising information for the new accessible Splash Pad that will be built. We imagine shifts would consist of 2 people for maybe 2 hours at a time during lovely busy weekends.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to enhance and revitalize Stewart Park in partnership with the City of Ithaca and park stakeholders for the enjoyment of Ithaca residents and visitors to our community, with major revitalization completed by the park's centennial on July 4, 2021.
Description
As we approach the Stewart Park’s centennial as a city-owned public park on July 4, 2021, Friends of Stewart Park and the City of Ithaca are preparing the park to launch into its next hundred years! Leading up to the Centennial Celebration, we are collaborating to plan, fundraise for, and implement a variety of projects to preserve and bring new life to Stewart Park. FSP completes all their work with a small part-time staff, 10 member board and volunteer help.
Since 2011, numerous restoration and landscape projects have been COMPLETED:
- Cayuga Waterfront Trail
- Mayor’s Flagpole Garden restoration
- Main Entrance landscaping
- Tea Pavilion reconstruction
- Interpretive Signage on historic buildings (with Wharton Studio Museum)
- Fuertes Overlook restoration
- Carousel restoration, new accessible ramp & fence
- Cascadilla Boathouse & Wharton Studio Building roof replacement
Many majorprojects are now UNDERWAY:
- Accessible Playground, Splash Pad (Phase I completed fall 2018)
- New all-season Bathrooms
- Picnic Pavilion restoration
- Cascadilla Boathouse restoration
- Wharton Studio Museum and Park Visitor Center development
