One of a Kind

The UC Davis Hospice Volunteer program is looking for talented crafters to share their amazing gifts with patients who are nearing the end of their life's journey. There are as many special projects as there are unique volunteers and patients.

Ideas of Items to Make for Patients:

  • Knit blankets in cheerful colors
  • Neck pillows for inpatient hospice
  • Knit beanie hats
  • Crafty Holiday projects

We would love to hear your ideas as well! Items may be made at home and delivered to our office or a staff member will be happy to pick up.

If you are part of a crafting group or if you just enjoy crafting and are willing to donate your time and items to patients receiving hospice care, we would be honored to share your items with our hospice patients.

Mission Statement

For over 35 years, UC Davis Hospice Program provides care for terminally ill patients. It is not a place, but rather an approach to health care emphasizing symptom management while helping patients and families to cope with psychosocial and spiritual issues which accompany the dying process.

Description

Hospice care is provided by physician-directed teams of nurses, social workers, home health aides, chaplains, therapists, volunteers, and bereavement coordinators who are sensitive to the local population's cultural and lifestyle diversity. Volunteers become an important part of the team, with the ability to attend rounds and care for patients as well as their families.
