GARDEN & HORTICULTURE THERAPY ASSISTANT
Staff Contact/Supervisor: Kelly Mitchell, Horticultural Therapy Coordinator ( kmitchell@anchorcenter.org)
Scheduling and Attendance Protocol: If for some reason you need to cancel or change a shift please call Kelly as soon as possible. If you cannot reach her also send her an email.
Commitment: Weekly, Time TBD
Work Location: Anchor Center grounds and outdoor garden area
Number of Volunteers Needed for this Position: 1 - 2
Purpose/Objective: Help keep outdoor/garden areas at Anchor Center safe, attractive, and functional.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain garden area and assist
- Assist with greenhouse plantings and care
- Assist with children’s horticultural activities including: planting, weeding, composting, harvesting and clearing
- Other clean up and maintenance of outdoor areas as needed
Training/Support: Anchor Center staff will provide training and instruction for particular projects
Qualifications Sought:
- Gardening experience helpful
- Love of working outdoors in all seasons
- Desire to share knowledge of plants and growing cycles with Anchor Center students
