Purpose of Position:

• The Children’s Room Volunteer plays a key role in assisting the Family Services support groups by providing enrichment activities for children while parents gather with CLUES staff. The Children’s Room Volunteer works with children, of various ages, and leads different activities including games, literacy activities, art projects, and more.

Position Type: Unpaid volunteer service

Schedule: Saturdays 9am-11:30am

Dates: June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27, and August 3.

Location: CLUES Minneapolis - 720 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407

Responsibilities:

• Assist in classroom supervision of all participating children.
• Lead activities in reading, art, and group games.
• Work cooperatively with children and families of diverse culture backgrounds.

CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with CLUES policies.

Qualifications:

• Verbal communication skills in Spanish preferred.
• Be flexible, reliable, punctual, and a positive role model for children.
• Interest and/or experience in early childhood education and/or family services preferred.

Requirements & Training:

• Attend an initial training/interview with the Program Coordinator.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.
