PERSONAL SHOPPER

Duties Include: greeting and assisting clients in shopping, stocking items, bagging fresh produce, operating the register to check out groceries, and carrying out the items for clients. Must be 16 years of age or older and wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).

Skills Necessary: Volunteers must have good verbal skills and physically be able to bend, stoop, and lift 15 pounds repeatedly throughout their 4 hour shift. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be on your feet for several hours at a time. Courtesy and helpfulness are expected.

Commitment: Our pantry only works through volunteers. Only sign up and take a slot if you can arrive 15 minutes before the specified start time and stay the entire 4-hour shift. Thank you!

PANTRY STOCKER

Duties Include: helping receive, inventory, and stock the products in our weekly delivery. Must be 16 years of age or older and wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). Volunteers must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Parking: Please park in the lot across the street from St. Phillip's School and Community Center along the fence directly in front of the field.

Mission Statement

The purpose of St. Philipà  à ¢à  à  à  à  s School and Community Center is to provide an excellent school and compatible community services to children, their families, and other residents of southern Dallas, and in doing so, to develop mutual community involvement.

Description

St. Philip's integration of the school with the strong community center has been called a national model for inner-city education. While 200 students attend the school, the community center serves over 700 families. Community Center programs include after school care, one of Dallas' largest athletics programs for children ages 6-14, a depot for Meals on Wheels, senior transportation and outreach services, health fairs, teen self esteem programs for males and females, seminars for first-generation college bound students, camping trips, supervised outings to museums and cultural events, and a summer camp that provides themed activities yearly. The Community Center programs meet a variety of needs in our South Dallas neighborhood. Outreach, athletics, and a strong summer program form the core of programs that include several opportunities to impact youth and families on a number of levels.
