On Tuesday & Thursday mornings we call our patients who reside in their homes to see how they are doing and if they are low on and medicines or supplies.
It also is a nice social visit for the patient who is trying to maintain independence and reside in their home and for those who might be caring for them. Many patients and family members look forward to these weekly telephone calls.
All calls are made from our Lakeland offices. Volunteers are given a basic script to follow but are encouraged to make the conversation more personal.
For those who would like to be of assistance to patients and families receiving hospice service, this is a rewarding way of helping them without having to be in the home or at bedside.
