The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center offers monthly public concerts at our facility located in beautiful Harvard, MA. Each concert is held on the third Sunday of the month from 3:00-5:00 pm (some flexibility); these concerts are soft fundraising efforts that support education and services for those affected by cancer.
We are seeking a volunteer to help organize and run the concert series from September-June annually, recruiting and booking volunteer musicians/groups/performers of all kinds. After an initial meeting all work may be performed remotely except for attending the monthly concerts on site.
Our Concert Coordinator will:
- Work with our partners to obtain pre-existing contact lists of performers (*all performers donate their time as volunteers)
- Reach out and recruit new performers!
- Maintain a calendar of events from Sept-June
- Maintain/update contact lists
- Obtain photos/bios, etc. for each performer to support marketing efforts
- Attend and host each monthly concert (*set up a refreshment table, arrange seating, man check-in desk, break-down after concert)
- Recruit additional day-of volunteers as needed
- Follow up with each performer to secure dates, send thank-you notes

Description
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Cancer Support Center is the premiere provider of integrative oncology care in Massachusetts, offering cancer support programs immersed in 8 acres of serene woodlands in the heart of Harvard, MA. Our facility offers the optimal setting for educational opportunities, programs and services that are research-based best practices from support groups to expressive and integrative therapies, and individual counseling. For almost 20 years the Healing Garden's goal has been to optimize the quality of life for all those affected by cancer: men, women, and their caregivers, regardless of cancer type, prognosis, or financial ability to pay for services. We serve clients from over 165 cities and town who range from newly diagnosed to 15+ years post treatment.
