The City of Raleigh Museum offers education programs to schools that are hands-on and interactive. The museum teaches students ranging from kindergarten to middle school on various topics related to the history of Raleigh. This opportunity will require training on the programs by museum staff.

This opportunity is mostly Tuesday-Fridays 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on scheduled days. This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity.

Volunteer Duty Description: Volunteers will be trained on specific education programs and will facilitate those programs to field trip students. Prior knowledge of the history of Raleigh is not required.

Volunteer Impact: Volunteers will have the opportunity to support local students in learning about the history of the City of Raleigh

Work Environment: Volunteers will work with children and teacher of varying ages and backgrounds. The programs will mostly take place indoors. There are a couple of programs that occur outside. The programs can be noisy. There will be a restroom. There is no reserved parking for museum volunteers. Street parking or parking decks are available.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must have experience working with children and must also be very patient. We will train you on all of the programs and you will have the opportunity to shadow the programs before facilitating as well. All volunteers will need to pass a background check before volunteering.

Special Instructions: The City of Raleigh Museum will schedule training with all those interested.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
