Low Vision Lending Library Administrative Volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Brooks Rehabilitation

This position is ideal for someone who is committed to seeing a project through the pilot phase and beyond to make a difference in the daily lives of persons with low vision or blindness. The low vision lending library is new to development, in which patients can borrow prescribed optical and adaptive technology devices on a month-to-month basis. These devices are not covered by insurance. Individuals may want to trial use of the device in their home and community, simply rent the device on an ongoing basis or, over time, select to purchase the device. The volunteer will have the opportunity to oversee the process of tracking the devices, maintain inventory of optical and adaptive aids, organize all necessary paperwork (such as enrollment information, signed agreements), and complete regular follow-up calls with patients, as well as complete patient satisfaction surveys over the phone. The physician and occupational therapists in the low vision clinic will be available for training, oversight and ongoing communication. Please note that this opportunity requires availability weekdays.
