Health and Home Care Society (formally VON BC) has provided services to seniors for the past 120 years. Our Meals on Wheels program provides a noon day meal for those who want to continue to live in their homes, mainly the frail elderly. Our Family Respite Centre provides a home-like environment, day and overnight respite programs and professional and therapeutic care for adults and seniors, many with cognitive and physical disabilities, to enable their caregivers to get a much-needed break.
Looking for volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule? We have various roles, flexible times and routes for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels, visit with clients and ensure they are safe. If you don't have a car, we are partnered with car sharing programs or can match with a driver for deliveries or you can even deliver meals using you bike!
At the Family Respite Centre volunteers enhance the programs already established for our clients some of whom stay over night (short term only) or spend the day with us.Perhaps you could give a two hour commitment?
