The Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting Theodore Roosevelt Island, is looking for 1-2 new board members. Our all-volunteer organization works closely with the National Park Service to host educational events, tours, and service outings on the island. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings, demonstrate a financial commitment to the organization, engage others, and put their talents to great use by taking the lead on projects and/or supporting activities.
We have a few specific areas of need:
- Experience with managing organization membership
- Interest in leading social media outreach (writing and scheduling posts, seeking content, driving engagement)
- Experience with fundraising, grant writing
- Eagerness to develop partnerships with local organizations and schools

Description
The Friends of Theodore Roosevelt Island serve as the voice and active force for ensuring that the memorial plaza, trail system and woodland landscape remain a fitting tribute to President Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation legacy.

REQUIREMENTS
- The Board meets once a month for approximately 90 minutes. Board members typically spend another 5-10 hours per month staffing events, planning projects, and performing designated tasks.
- A passion for stewardship of public spaces and an interest in Theodore Roosevelt are desired, but not required.
