VITAS Healthcare is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families- just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members or friends who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house since they are devoted to caring for their loved ones. Relief care (sitting with a patient which the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers, getting the opportunity to run an errand, go to the movies or a doctor’s appointment can renew their energy. This better equips them for the responsibilities of care-giving.
We are currently looking for a Caregiver Relief volunteer with daytime availability to help with visiting a home patient in the Overland area- 63114. Caregiver relief volunteers provide non-medical services for home patients while family members take a break. This volunteer opportunity would be for approximately 2 hours a week.
Comprehensive Training and orientation for hospice volunteering is provided. Days and times for volunteering are flexible according to your availability. Description
Volunteers are the heart of VITAS Healthcare, providing friendly, non- medical support to hospice patients and their family or offering support services in the office. We are seeking caring and compassionate individuals to volunteers for our patients in their homes or in nursing facilities in the community.
