Pennies is looking for volunteers and co-chairs of the following committees:
- Fundraising: plan, organize, -- roll up your sleeves and implement -- projects related to fulfilling Pennies’ mission
- PR: promote Pennies and affiliate activities in the greater Newburyport area
- Marketing, website, and social media: post information relative to Pennies and affiliates on social platforms. Create engaging stories for our community newsletter.
- Events: help us put on our main event for the year, Music for Change, and join the fun while giving back.
Pennies is seeking people to help expand our impact on community collaborations. We are looking for doers, leaders, and people who aspire to potential future board appointments.
Do you live in the Greater Newburyport area? (Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury, Rowley, Salisbury, or Amesbury). Do you have a general interest in joining like-minded individuals who volunteer? This opportunity is an excellent springboard for community service and leadership.
We would like to hear from you. Please let us know your availability and areas of interest. Currently, while social distancing, our meetings happen monthly by phone or on zoom or hangouts.

Mission Statement
Pennies for Poverty is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission is to ease the impact of poverty on the people of Greater Newburyport by endorsing models of assistance that promote dignity, supporting allied organizations both financially and collaboratively, increasing community awareness of poverty through citizen education, and inspiring and encouraging volunteerism.
Description
Pennies for Poverty, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 2008 with the belief that if everyone in the community does a little to help those in need, we can substantially reduce poverty and improve the well being of all members of the community. The original mantra for the organization was "2 Cents, 2 Cans, 2 Hours, Together." That is, everyone should put aside 2 cents a day and 2 cans a week and volunteer 2 hours a month so that together we reduce poverty.
