2019 Community Distribution Project (Brochure Blitz)

Thank you for helping to spread the word about the Autism Speaks Walk!

We have brochure holders with brochures and posters, that need to be distributed throughout your area, to places that are visited by many people, for example:

  • Libraries
  • Hair or Nail Salons
  • Dry Cleaners
  • Bagel or Deli Shops
  • Schools
  • Places of Worship
  • Privately Owned Restaurants
  • Mom & Pop Shops
  • Super Markets
  • Municipal / Administration Buildings
  • Wawa
  • Dentist/Pediatrician's office

(Avoid chains and corporate offices where you may need to ask for higher level approval.)

**We would like this to be a marketing "blitz" and have everything distributed the weekend of 7/26-7/28

Tasks:

  1. Plan to pick up your materials at a pre-determined time and place (Sarah will mail you the brochures)
  2. Drop off materials to 20 or more locations (if you are interested in dropping off more packs of brochures please let Sarah know). (Not everyone will say yes, so plan on making enough stops to distribute all materials.)
  3. When you are done, provide a list of the locations that are displaying your materials, including the organization name and their general address (street & town).

Please email your "drop list" to your Autism Speaks staff lead as soon as you have distributed your materials.

(When you pick up your materials, please indicate the general area/towns you will be covering, to avoid duplication by other Volunteers.)

When you arrive at each location bring in with you 1 holder, 20 brochures, a poster, (and tape, to offer to hang the poster). Some locations will just want brochures without the holder - that is OK.

About Autism Speaks

Location:

216 Haddon Avenue, Suite 403, Westmont, NJ 08108, US

Mission Statement

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.

Description

Building upon the legacy of three leading autism organizations, Autism Coalition for Research and Education (ACRE), the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) and Cure Autism Now (CAN), who merged with the organization, Autism Speaks has made extraordinary advancements in the autism community.

Chief among these are increased global awareness of autism, better understanding of the breadth of the autism spectrum, and advocacy to increase research and access to care and support.

Today, Autism Speaks is dedicated to advancing research into causes and better treatments for autism spectrum disorders and related conditions both through direct funding and collaboration.

These goals can only be achieved through work in communities nationwide, at the federal level and globally by working with partners, governments and other organizations.

It will require an inclusive approach that values diversity and individual needs. We will work in partnership with those who share our goals, ambitions, and values.

It is clear that the mission of Autism Speaks will require the organization to grow in new ways and build capacity to be a sustaining organization to accelerate progress in science and support people with autism and their families over a lifetime.

This will require investment in people, infrastructure and process in order to operate as a best in class non-profit organization.
