Do you want to inspire a Pulitzer Prize winner to start writing? How about a Newbery Medal recipient? Or even a Nobel Prize-winning author?

You have an opportunity to do just that with the nonprofit Literary Legacies! Our organization teaches students grades 3-12 how to write their own fiction or nonfiction book. Currently, we have students writing graphic novels, love stories, stories on bullying, fantasy stories, sci-fi, and many more!

We are looking for volunteers to help guide students through the process of writing their own book. You do not need to be an author or an English major to help! Just have a creative mind and a desire to improve a child’s life. Students are taught one hour a week after school and possibly on weekends depending on your schedule. If you are interested in starting up with one or several students, please contact us. Change a young person’s life today!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to heal, improve, and enhance the lives of young people through the majesty of writing their own book!

Description

CEO David Chappell founded Literary Legacies due to the tremendous health benefits he found through writing his own book, Age of the Great Prophets. Chappell fought back against his mental and physical diseases by implating these illnesses into his main characters. After finishing his book, he decided he wanted to use this technique with young people struggle through their own life issues. Incorporated in 2017, Literary Legacies will soon have published four books with a fifth soon to be completed by the end of summer. We have 12 students in the program, each writing their own unique fictional novels. Our goal is to enact a cultural revolution where children are able to write 140 pages and not just 140 characters! Our first student, Riyani Patel, who wrote The Boy Battle, has sold over 500 copies of her book! Join us to help inspire the next generation of award-winning authors.
